Best Graphics Cards in India 2020 – Reviews & Buyer’s Guide

1. Zotac2. Gigabyte3. Zotac

Graphics card is a separate hardware piece, attached inside your computers CPU to render an image in the display of your monitor. The quality of images and videos you see in the monitor depends on the type of graphics card you are using. With two types of graphics cards, Integrated Card and Dedicated card, users have to decide on their requirement to rope in a particular model that works for them.

If you are just into surfing Internet, watching movies or creating documents, cost-effective Integrated graphics card fits your case as they are inbuilt cards in your computer’s motherboard, suitable for the low-end graphical interface, not requiring any upgrading.

Whereas, if you are a professional video editor or game aficionado who love to play Battlefield 1, Call of Duty or Resident Evil 7 in your high-end computer, then dedicated graphics card with its advanced features and state-of-the-art architecture is a prerequisite for you.

They are expensive but designed to give you an excellent gaming experience with tons of others useful features to make your life easier and interesting. Though high-end modern graphics card is expensive, they don’t cheat you in offering best performance than most low-priced cards.

Forget about slow streaming, video stuttering, image tearing and other quality issues in your gaming experience and enjoy the fast and brilliant performance of sophisticated graphics cards available online or offline. The article is based on thorough research on the best graphics card and aimed to guide you in choosing the right one for your computer.

Educate yourself on the following factors before buying a graphics card.

Factors to Consider when Buying a Graphics Card

1) Model Number of the Card

The model number of the graphics card is an ultimate yardstick to measure its quality. It is usually a combination of GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), memory clock rate, and memory bandwidth. The higher the model number, better the graphics card is.

For example, the GTX 1080 is a slightly better than the GTX 1070 in terms of performance and reliability, and  GTX 1070 is better than the GTX 1060. Go for the highest-tier graphics card, though examine other features as well to enjoy rich graphical interfaces for brilliant gaming and movie experience. However, higher models are expensive but worthy one if you need higher performance in gameplay or video streaming.

2) Architecture

Latest architecture ensures better hardware quality, speed, and performance. To play advanced games and enjoy HD videos you need a modern processor with a sophisticated and robust graphics hardware with a powerful and next-generation architecture.

3) Memory in Terms of Bandwidth

If your display size is 1920×1080 or higher, a high-end model should be your first priority in deciding for the graphics card as it will undoubtedly support higher RAM by default if you want outstanding performance from the card.

Considering RAM as an ultimate factor for buying higher resolution graphics card is recommended when you need to run movies and games in an incredibly large resolution say a 4k display or multiple high-resolution displays. In other cases, bandwidth is one of the most important factors to look for while opting for a video card.

Fast way to detect the bandwidth of a card is to check its memory type instead of memory clock speed; like GDDR5 memory provides twice the bandwidth of DDR3 at the same clock speed. Thus, 1GB Memory with GDDR5 is always preferable to 4GB memory with DDR3 if you want to run powerful applications.

Higher bandwidth is a significant measure to run powerful applications with more bandwidth your computer can draw high-resolution images faster.

4) Compatibility with your PC

It is important to consider your computer’s hardware and software specifications before choosing your favorite graphics card. Older dual-core CPUs, like Celeron, Pentium or Sempron won’t integrate with the advanced and powerful graphics hardware. You have to upgrade your PC’s processor to have the best gaming experience. Moreover, you don’t need most updated and expensive graphics card for an older 1280×1024 display size.

Same way, less advanced models with lower frame rates won’t run modern 3D games in three 1920×1080 displays in surround. Cross check with the graphics card you intended to buy if its number of PCIe power connectors can integrate well with the same of your PC or whether the recommended power supply for the card is met by your system.

5) Integrated or Dedicated graphics?

If you’re a media professional, artist or hardcore gamer, you need a powerful and dedicated graphics card that gives an excellent rendering of images and videos. Integrated graphics card are used when display and performance of videos and pictures need not be of superb quality. Many computer processors are being offered with integrated graphics processors.

Such cards generate less heat and consume less energy as they don’t commit upgraded performance as a dedicated graphics card which is suitable for the high-end user requiring faster and incredible display. Being more advanced and powerful, dedicated graphics hardware is more expensive than an integrated card.

6) The Cooling System

Advanced graphics cards require more power to render high-quality display than its older counterparts, thus resulting in producing more heat inside the case. With a cooler in GPU, a graphics card cools the internal hardware for its proper functioning. Usually, two types of coolers are available: reference coolers and custom cooler.

Reference coolers, typically found on low-cost video cards, bring down the rising temperature by exhausting the heat out of the back of the case but on cons side, it is little noisier. Whereas, custom coolers are more efficient and silent than reference ones.

They are exclusively made by card manufacturer, for example, Gigabyte’s Windforce, MSI’s Twin Frozr or ASUS’ DirectCU etc. and provide better performance in keeping your GPU cool and extend its lifespan in the process. On the cons side, they are expensive and tend to dissipate hot air into the case, making it difficult to lower the temperature.

If the internal heat from the working of your CPU touches 55 degrees, then you may consider reference cooler even if it makes noise. Otherwise, you can opt for custom cooler by paying out some extra money to get better performance in cooling.

7) Linking Multiple Graphics Card

SLI (scalable link interface) standard has been introduced to enables users to configure multiple graphics card to boost its performance.  Though AMD and Nvidia are offering to link up multiple graphics cards to have better gaming experience, in some cases, it is not a recommended idea to scale performance.

The second card may not work as expected and bring about only 25-50 percent increase in performance. This enhancement in performance decreases further if you configure three or four graphics card. Moreover, such setups can rise inconsistency and micro-stuttering of graphics.

The process, besides being a burden on power consumption, generates a lot of heat and noise. On a positive note, linking multiple graphics card might give you more powerful performance in gaming at a lower cost than a single potent card. However, make sure that the cards are SLI ready.

8) Clock Speed

Clock speed is an important factor in choosing a processor, as a higher clock speed generally means that the graphics processor works fast. However, advanced and latest architecture 2 GHz clock speed will perform better than 3 GHz less advanced architecture.

Moreover, how fast a card performs also depends on the number of cores it supports. Thus, considering the Clock Speed as a measuring-criteria comes into play after you have decided on architecture based on the number of core it supports.

Now you are ready to delve into some of the best graphics cards in India.

How Graphics Card works

The CPU sends information to the graphics card about the image to be displayed. The graphics card does a calculation on how to use the pixels on the display of your monitor to create the image. It then sends that information by drawing the graphics to the display of your monitor using a cable. The main functional area of a graphics or video card is its microprocessor called Graphics Processing Unit or GPU.

The image processing function of a GPU involves four steps

  1. Connection to the motherboard is established for power and data to render an image.
  2. The processor in the graphics card how to interpret each pixel and display them on the screen to create the intended picture.
  3. RAM is required to hold information about each pixel and temporarily hold the image data to be displayed
  4. A monitor is connected with the CPU to display the final result in its screen.

Thus, you can see creating an image out of binary data is a strenuous process and in the absence of good quality graphics card, it is not possible to render images flawlessly.

Furthermore, to draw a 3D image on the screen, the graphics card first make a wire frame structure with the help of straight lines. Then, it rasterizes the image that is filling the structure with pixels. Then it adds texture, color, and lighting. Latest high-end fast games require the computer to go through this process about sixty times per second.

Game on With the Best Graphics Card

For faster image processing and best gaming experience, invest in dedicated graphics card from the above list and forget about lagging or jittering while you are gaming. With technological advancement best graphics cards have become affordable and popular with gaming enthusiast.
